About
The National Museum of the American Indian, a part of the Smithsonian Institution, is dedicated to the life, languages, literature, history, and arts of the Native peoples of the Western Hemisphere. Its Washington, D.C. building, opened in 2004 and designed with significant input from Native communities, features a curvilinear limestone form inspired by natural rock formations. The museum's collection includes nearly one million objects spanning 12,000 years of Indigenous history.
