The National Museum of Women in the Arts in Washington, D.C. is the only major museum in the world dedicated exclusively to championing women through the arts. Founded in 1987, its collection of more than 5,500 works spans the 16th century to the present, featuring paintings, sculpture, photographs, and works on paper by artists from 175 countries. The museum occupies a magnificently restored 1907 Renaissance Revival building.
