The Oakland Museum of California is the premier museum of California art, history, and natural sciences, dedicated to telling the stories of California and its people. Founded in 1969 through the merger of three separate museums, its collection spans California art from the Gold Rush era to today, the state's ecology and natural history, and the cultural history of its diverse communities.
