The Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago is the largest science museum in the Western Hemisphere. Housed in the former Palace of Fine Arts from the 1893 World's Columbian Exposition, the museum features over 400,000 square feet of exhibits on science, technology, and industry. Its most celebrated exhibits include a German submarine captured during World War II and a working coal mine experience.
