The Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art (MASS MoCA) in North Adams is the largest center for contemporary visual and performing arts in the United States. Housed in a 26-building, 19th-century factory complex, MASS MoCA offers over 250,000 square feet of gallery and performance space for monumental, site-specific artworks that could not exist anywhere else. Artists including James Turrell, Laurie Anderson, and Sol LeWitt have created major installations here.
