Mississippi Civil Rights Museum

Jackson, Mississippi

About

The Mississippi Civil Rights Museum in Jackson opened in 2017 as part of the Two Mississippi Museums complex. It is the first state-sponsored civil rights museum in the American South, and one of the most significant museums of its kind anywhere. Eight themed galleries explore the history of the civil rights movement in Mississippi, from the era of slavery through landmark events including the murder of Emmett Till and the Freedom Summer of 1964.
