The Museum of Contemporary Art Los Angeles (MOCA) is the only museum in Los Angeles dedicated exclusively to art created after 1940. Founded in 1979, MOCA has played a pivotal role in establishing Los Angeles as a global center for contemporary art. Its three venues house a collection of over 7,000 works by major figures of postwar and contemporary art, including Mark Rothko, Franz Kline, and Cindy Sherman.
