The North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences in Raleigh is the largest natural history museum in the southeastern United States and the most visited museum of any kind in North Carolina. Its collection of more than 42 million specimens spans geology, biology, and archaeology. The museum's Nature Research Center, opened in 2012, gives visitors a window into real science being conducted by the museum's researchers.
