The Portland Art Museum is the oldest art museum on the West Coast, founded in 1892, and the seventh-oldest in the United States. Its collection of more than 42,000 works spans world art across cultures and millennia, with particular strengths in Northwest Coast Native American art, European modernism, and photography. The museum's 2019 Mark Building expansion added 112,000 square feet of gallery space.
