About
The National Museum of African American History and Culture, which opened on the National Mall in 2016, is the only national museum devoted exclusively to the documentation of African American life, history, and culture. Its collection of more than 40,000 objects traces the African American experience from the era of slavery through the present, exploring themes of community, family, identity, and the ongoing struggle for civil rights.
